Nice style, jimmy. I see you're rockin' the fluxbox rounded corners :) We need to convince you to come back to windows ;) |
Thanks Malnilion :D... Eheheh, I'll never leave definitively Windows and BB for linux and FB... but I like new experiences... ;) Anyway I think that FB offers some interesting opportunities like tabs, transparencies (they works better than in BB), and round corners, but it lacks of plugins and flexibility respect to BB... There are also some differences in the style sintax, but this isn't a big problem... :D |
the style is decent, but the fluxbox rounded corners are teh ugly. |
I use flux on all my Slack boxes, but they are older versions before the rounded corners. I think flux needs to do a bit of a better job at least with margining them if anything. Specialy in the window decore... |
This is the new version 1.0rc... You are right, round corners are not well implemented, there are problems expecially with borders (infact menu*borderWidth and window*borderWidth are 0 in this style... ).
Anyway I decided to use round corners in this style because it was something different from my other styles, but I don't know if I'm going to do it again... ;) |
before you totally stop using rounded corners, contact Flux's developers and let them know what your opinion is... |
Ok Nightbreed ;)

I know like the bare basics of linux, like I can do file editing, and like movethings around, basics of complieing sourcecode stuff like that... Only because at school we took an intro to Linux/Unix. How hard was it for you to get the set up you havere there goin? Also what distro are you useing? Anyhelp would be great I would love to start my own little linux install on vmware to test things out. |
Hi root, I'm using the last edition of ubuntu (the only distro wich detect my pcmcia card so far ...)... I'm quite new to Linux, but I like to mess around with this things ;) , so I'm learning fast... If you want to try Fluxbox, don't use repositories (they aren't up to date), but copile the souce code by yourself (it is an easy task). Fluxbox is less intuitive than Blackbox4win, you also need an external file manager (I use rox), but if you want you can use only the shell ;). Probably, if you have never used linux so far, a more intuitive WM like gnome or kde would be better than fluxbox at the beginning... The only good suggest I can give you is "don't surrend when you meet the first problems" ;)... Anyway, if you need to know something more specific feel free to ask :D |
Well I have ubuntu setup on vmware right now [the gnome ver] so what are you useing for like your mp3 player and system montor? |
The mp3 player is mpd + ncmpc (it is not very intuitive, but it is light and effective)... generally I control mpd with mpc (directly from the shell)
The system montor is conky (download the new version from the official web site and compile it, repositories aren't up to date) |
All of my Slack boxes are just servers... I have one that just serves up music for the house. I have one that I use with wine and photoshop and I use flux for that because photoshop is most stable there. I actually like using photoshop under that setup then I do with windows. And my wacom tablet works great for that setup. I worked with the devel of the Linux wacom drivers to get the tablets working near perfect. My music player is just amarok that's running constant for remote access. |
How many computers do you have? Do you live in NASA? :D eheheh j/k... ;) |
I have at least 12. I get them from companies who pay me to build test machines for various situations. Then they let me keep the prototypes ;)... this is a side job... not to mention I live next door to that dorm and they toss computers like their going outta style or something.. lmao.. collage kids 0.o |
darn.. i love the transparencies... the round corners... |
Thanks sMs... @Nigtbreed WOW, nice job :D |
damn, i thought i had a nice job as an IT journalist :/ gief prototype boxes now plx thx (: |
Hi there!
Nice skin (don't really know what i should call it ... :P) you made there ^^
I really like the Wallpaper but i can't find it anywhere :(
May you give me a "little" hint (for example a link ... :P)? Would be very pleased ^^

link ;) |
It's an ok Job.. but not constant... most companies want the machines, but they don't want to foot the bill for licencing new M$ OSes... None of them has actually wanted to even do tests for Vista yet.. though, quite a few lately want cutting edge Linux boxes ;) |
