Speechless... One of the best styles I've seen lately. Slick, elegant, blueish... What more could we ask? U rule, NC-17... |
BTW, just read the style... I have not read many things about the new syntax yet, but I would like to know what those "bordering abilities" are in ur style. I only noticed a menu.frame.marginWid th that is definitely new... |
using "border" in the gradient definition. its part of the 0.70 spec, but this style doesnt use all the different names for the elements as it kinda should... maybe when G updates stylemaker, if he's around... the marginWidth is new too I think also, yes. marginwidths are availble for more elements now too. It's a straight-forward style, not too busy or complex, but sometimes it just isn't needed. I guess it's like the bbnix styles of olden lore :) |
I see now that u r using "border" but not border commands, like border.Color or border.Colorto The style, like I said, it's amazing - too bad we will have to edit by hand till G does his thing -IF he ever does his thing... :D |
just to give an idea of how things work with the new style syntax.. toolbar.clock: is replaced with toolbar.clock.appear ance:
and so forth. You have the option to add border elements to any aspect of the style by adding border to the appearance line. Then you can control such things by using such things as toolbar.button.appea rance: raised bevel1 gradient vertical border
toolbar.button.color 1:
toolbar.button.color 2 (these replace color and colorTo: in gradeints. solid defined articles use toolbar.button.backg roundColor: )
then you can define such things as toolbar.button.borde rColor: or toolbar.button.borde rWidth: to change the color of the border and its thickness. the new syntax allows a border for each element.. but the cool thing is it allows the user to choose its color and width as well.. The syntax can be a little bit frustrating as it can sometimes work with old syntax elements but other times just wont. some wierd things have been changed and new extensions all together have been added like window.handleHeight: which changes the sizes of the handle and grips or menu.active.appearan ce: which is now the definer for what used to be called a hilite. Over all the new syntax is a pain in the ass i imagine although it does appear that it would give an accomplished style maker enough room to dive even deeper into the whole process and customize even more of the appearance colorwise then they ever could before with the old syntax. Gosh thats a mouthful. |
for the record bblean actually supports the new syntax quite well. its my experience that it also respects the wildcards that can also be used in the new syntax. users such as wicked lester and i believe thewayofzen have submitted a few styles using nothing but the new syntax. you might wantn to give those a try with the latest beta. they work for me on my pc :) |
yes, the new syntax does work well on bblean 1.16. but the coolest thing is bblean's is very forgiving with a mesh of each syntax... for instance im not using 'appearance' or 'color1' here but am using 'border' |
Thanx, circa1974, I know BBLean works very well with the new syntax - just started experimenting myself - and, yes, NightBreed has uploaded styles with the new syntax... |
link and link
are probably the two best examples of the new style syntax for anyone wishing to dissect some. |
Great style. |
Despite all the harsh talk in the forums about the new syntax, I like it... Wallpaper FTTC is by blakejnolan and is available at link |
Nice colors in this... very easy on the eyes |
Like the style, but where's the 3dc? |
there is none, it's something I just don't do right now. Never really liked the changes 3dc makes, especially with darker styles. I'm quite happy with the default neutral grey from windows :) If you come up with one please post a link here :) |
Like nc-17, I've had good results using a combo of "old" and "new" syntax, including bordered elements and varying border widths for different kinds of effects. The six styles I've posted since June reflect some of my "experiments" with this. The two most recent are here link and link
. It's not hard to do and I think it really opens up some subtle creative possibilities. This style is a beautiful example. |
Hey, clove, didn't know those styles were authored using the new syntax... U certainly don't say so in the comments... As for not being hard... BBstylemaker spoilt us all... |
Pitkon, I guess I figured everybody looks as closely at the styles as I do. LOL I'm going to have to do a better job of promotion. ;P |
